If the mag release could be placed on the right side so my trigger finger could drop my clip I would be extremely happy. Has anyone ever tried to do this?

Only time I ve known it to be done was on the L/handed Randell. Of course those also had as I recall L/handed mags so mags would lock up. My self I am left handed and my trigger finger works mag release fine

I'm not left handed. Use of my trigger finger allows me to drop my mag without changing my grip. Dropping the mag from the right side is more ergonomically correct for me.

My HK USP allows this type of right fingered ejection.

Smith and Alexander makes an Ambi mag release. I've installed a couple that were a pain in the rear to get to work, but once they did, they seemed durable enough. They are not cheap though.

I am not interested in an ambi release. Completely switching the release to the right side is what I am after.

Okay, but that's not possible. An ambi is, which would be something like what you described on your HK. Anyway, it's your only option.
