My USP 40 fullsize was recently stolen along with a few other items in my house.  I am thinking of replacing it with a compact (as well as a new safe!)  Will the mags that I have for the full size work in the compact model (it will be a 40 as well.)?

Nope.

The compact grip is smaller, you can not interchange the mags.
