One that has the same compact dimensions (length and width) as the factory, but covers the backstrap to offer a little more recoil absorption. The ones that I have tried, Pachmayr and Hogue, either are identical to the factory grip, with no cover over the exposed rear frame, or cover the backstrap and are about an inch longer, ruining the original compact size.

Any other opinions...other than modifying an aftermarket grip?

Have you tried Eagle wood grips? Also check Ajax Grips' web site.

Good luck!

I've often wondered if a grip from a Taurus .38 would fit.

I'm betting it would, and they do cover the backstrap.
