Is there a way to lessen the trigger pull on a SA 1911 w/o changing the mainspring?
Mine is a little heavier than I would like it to be. The pistol is used for competition- bullseye and falling plates. The plate matches are fast enough that I do not want a very light pull. About 3 or 3.5 pounds would be good.

Send pistol to GS have GS do a trigger job.  You can get a 3lb trigger using a 23 lb mainspring.

or buy the stones, jigs and books and try it your self.

I have had the sear and hammer prepped. It isn't as heavy as stock but I would like it a little lighter.
I thouht I had read about bending the sear prong of the mainspring. Is that right?

I've seen my GS tweak the sear spring why I don't know.  I usally hand him the gun a EGW hard sear and tell  Him want poundage I'd like the trigger.

You try a Cylinder and Slide sear sping maybe that would work.

I don't know if my SA Loaded is slightly different from other 1911s, but a while back we decided that my sear and hammer needed to be cleaned up. There were a few burrs from a lot of shooting on them. At that time we looked through the spare parts box we keep and found we had a Clark competition mainspring. We tried to fit it but were unable to get it and the ambi safety installed at the same time. No matter how we tried the Clark spring wouldn't fit.
Is there anything special about the Springfield 1911s? I really wanted that spring to fit too.
