This past friday, I picked up my used 4553TSW, I ordered from Bud's Police Supply and it was in better condition that described and depicted on the website. There is virtualy no sign of wear or marks on the slide or frame, the breachface barely has any marks from cartridges being fired, the nights sites were fairly bright as well. This gun appears to have been hardly used or carried, the factory plastic grips are not even dinged or nicked anywhere. The two 7rd magazines on the other hand needed a very good cleaning and spring replacement, because they would not lock the slide open every time. For $349 shipped, this was the best deal on a quality handgun I've seen since the used late model Sig P6's were around (I missed out on those). The gun shoots very well so far, the DAO trigger is smooth and fairly short and breaks very clean, it did not even look to have had enough rounds to be properly broken in or these TSW guns hold up well enough to not look like it.

If you'd like the rail put back on that pistol, Smith and Wesson will do it free of charge and ship it back to you at no charge.  You do have to get it to them however.  I would suggest that if you have a dealer with whom you're friendly to have him/her ship it via USPS Priority flat rate to save some serious money.

Would love to see some pics, I've got one and a 4586TSW on layaway at Bud's so I'm very excited to hear how nice yours turned out.

I dont a have a camera handy, but to give you a idea on its condition, I have purchased a used S&W 4013TSW before, that was advertised as a dealer demo and this pistol I got from Bud's beat it hands down. The overall exterior condition is excellent, very little to no blemishes and no noticeable finish wear. If it was used by a officer, they did not use it with a holster very much, the typical wear from being inserted and removed from a typical police holster is not present on this pistol. When I took the pistol apart for cleaning, the usual metal wear from actually firing (i.e. ~ metal to metal contact wear from the barrel coming into contact with the alloy frame was very, very minimal) the gun, when compared to other similar TSW pistols (alloy frame/SS slide) I have had or seen is very minimal as well, also the barrel wear from contacting the bushing is hardly noticable, I would rate the pistol easily 90 to 95%. I dont know if this a exception to what they have in stock and maybe I got lucky, but I ordered from the Buds Police Supply website, not the Buds Gun Shop, The employee I spoke to stated they are different companies. The service I got was exceptional and the staff I spoke to on the phone was helpful and friendly and my FFL/dealer recieved it fairly fast considering I ordered and paid for the pistol just before the 4th of July weekend (it was about a week total to MI and that was UPS fault for trying to deliver after the shop closed a couple a days, it was sent via 2nd day air).

From my experiences, I would without a doubt order again from Bud's, hopefully your pistol meets your expectations, I'm surprised these pistols have not sold out already and yes I will be calling S&W to have the rail put back on.

I just ordered one this morning, apparently the last one. Hope my results are as good as yours. Except mine was $259.

I just received 2 - 4586s from Buds.  They were both in excellent condition.

After paying my FFL they cost me 282.50 each.

Best deal I've gotten in a long time.

I got mine today. It has seen a bit of use and has some light scratches on most of it. Cleaned up pretty well and is in good mechanical shape. Not quite as nice as I was hopeing for from some other reports but still a good deal for the money.
