I've always shot better with revolver than semi-autos, I don't know why.  I was in the pawn shop and saw a S&W mod 66 satin stainless.  At first I overlooked it because I thought it would cost too much.  After looking at a couple of other guns I decided to look at the 66.  It wasn't marked too high but I asked him anyway if he would go lower.  I figured what the heck nothing ventured nothing gained, so I said 250.00 and he said okay.  Well now it's at home.   I put some flitz on it and polished it up and it looks new.  The trigger pull is sweet like my mod. 65.   I don't think $250 was a bad price, what do you guys think?

$250-$300 is the going price for used 66's around here.

Everybody needs a good 357 and a 66 is one of the best.

Good gun...good price...very hard to beat a 4in. .357 for versatility. Ya done good!

And if it's not beat up and still tight, ya done real good.
I would have done it too, given the chance.

I bought my first revolver about 3 months ago, a model 66-2 (2.5") that showed no signs of ever being fired.  I could tell when I picked it up it was very solid but I have been very pleasantly surprised at how accurate it is, especially inside 15 yards. I paid $300 for mine, so I think you got yours for a good price.  Now that I have seen what I can get for the $ (versus the autos I have been buying), I am looking for a model 66 in 4" and maybe a larger caliber S&W, too.

I bought myself a new Model 66-6 last week. Paid a bit more than you did for yours, but it's the first 66 I've owned in about 10 years (though I do have two Model 19s).

It came with the 2.5 inch barrel.   I was looking for a good belt gun when I go hunting, and camping.  I guess I made a good choice, after reading the responses.  Thanks

Yep, I think you did good.  The older S&Ws are excellent revolvers.  I bought an old Model 19 (like yours but blued instead of stainless) a few weeks ago, always wanted one with a 2.5" bbl., looks new and shoots great.  Enjoy your new toy!
