So, I just picked up my new FNP-45 USG from my FFL and brought it home this evening.

After handling it for a bit I noticed that the slide release can only be manipulated from the left side.

I can't release the slide from the right while using my left hand, or in anyway at all using the right slide release.

All three magazines and it's the same situation.

I hope I'm explaining this so it makes sense, it's been a long day.

Anyway, has anyone encountered an issue like this?

Yes or no, what would be the best course of action?

Thanks in advance.

Are you trying this with empty mags, or with loaded mags?  My FNP-45 won't do it with an empty mag, but it will actuate easily with a loaded mag.

Well I gave it a try with a loaded mag (only three rounds) and you were right .

It released the slide just fine.

Noob with a new gun here didn't try the obvious.

Thanks.

You're welcome.  Anyway, it's a pretty nice pistol, huh?

So far I'm in love with this thing. But so far I haven't shot it.

A range day can't come soon enough.

Heh... I've only got 45 rounds through mine, but it was really purchased for the purpose of making holsters.  I have a lot of pistols that I don't shoot much, because I mainly use them for holster making purposes.

I will say that when my USG was brand-spanking new, the slide release was
so tight I could barely trip it.

After the first shooting session, it loosened up to the sweet release point it has
now; a light but positive release on both sides.

It has also released itself, a la Glock, on occasion when I slam in a loaded mag "just so."

I so do love my FNP .45.

I think I'll take a little time this weekend, and blast a stupid amount of money out the front of my FNP-45.
