Finaly, my creation is complete.  Everything but the grips have been done for about a year.  I finnaly got grips.

Springfield mil-spec.  I put the CM hammer, trigger and sear in, a Kings grip saftey, and now CM rosewood slim-carry grips to complete my self customed 1911.

I'm happy.  Whatcha think?
Shoots like a dream.

That one, my friend, is a .22
I have been hit hard by the 1911 bug.  I have 3 .45s as well, and a strong desire for a 9mm.  Soooo like crack!  Plus, Ciener has come out with 15 round mags, so I no longer need to destroy two mags to make a hi-cap of my own.

Love it! Of course, I'm partial. Only thing I'd change is the mainspring housing. I like it flat. Why not post a pic of a target? Let us all enjoy your creation.

Nice lookin Springy!!  I did a similar make over to mine.

First trip to the range using 230 gr Winchester white box, I was able to put 4 shots into one ragged hole from the bench at 10 yards.

Me sooooo happy!  They are great guns.

I see yours appears to have a stainless bushing?  Does it have the "NM" or "N" serial number?

Some looking around on other sights educated me about the fact that the "NM" (NOT NATIONAL MATCH) guns are final machined Stateside, whereas the "N" ones are final machined in Brazil, and assembled here.

Its an NM.  I was not expecting the stainless bushing at all, but I sure was pleased it came with it.  I was going to get one if it had not come with one.

Interesting about the N vs NM thing.

I also have never come across another mil-spec as tight as mine, tight and smooth.  It is one solid peice of metal with no wiggle at all, not even the slightest, until you lock it back, and even then it only moves a little.  I am very pleased with its accuracy.  And with about 700 rounds through it I have never had a problem.
