Does shoot nice once you get used to it.

Is it common for the things to start coming unscrewed in the first couple thousand rounds? Oh and anyone else had problems with the springfield supplied magazines?

First ditch the two piece FLGR (its crap and serves no real purpose)  and replace it with USGI. Second do not loctite the screws into the bushings, when you try to take them out the bushings will unscrew from the frame.

Instead remove the screws and grips, then carefully remove the grip screw bushings. Degrease thouroghly and reinstall the grip screw bushings with blue locktight, make sure to wipe any excess from the inside of the frame. Allow to set overnight, then reinstall the grip panels and make sure that you SNUG the screws down firmly.

As for the magazines keep them for TAP/RAP Bang drills and If you don't want to spend a lot on 47 Ds or Cobra Mags (for the range) you can get NOVAKs from CDNN at $14 a mag and they work well.


Now Ya'll could come to Florida and Visit Tallahassee and the 1911 work and range time would be free

Oh Minuteman419 already took care of the screws. He had "small fastener loctite" I think it was purple.

I forgot about the loaded coupon. I was just going to get cmc mags. So far we have had 0 problems with those, and they seem higher quality (at least around the feedlips) and the springfield mags.

I still haven't taken it apart yet. Terrible documentation with the pistol and I can never remember which 1911 has which guide rod, is it Kimbers that have the different one?

We were whacking a small lp gas canister with it at somthing like 75-100 yards pretty frequently with generic fiocchi and american eagle ammo, so it seems accurate enough. The recoil seems harsher than other 45s I have shot (1911 and others) maybe it'll break in? I have not been the only one to notice the recoil.
