You know, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, and Ed Brown, among others. At least every other thread wouldn't be about "I had to send my new Kimber back to the factory," etc.

probably won't happen because those of us who own Gucci 1911s don't have a whole lot to talk about...other than how wonderful our guns are and how we'll never own a mass produced carry gun again

On a limited level, I have to agree with you about the snob thing (and only because there's some truth to it--as evidence I submit the first post in this thread) I just wish folks could understand the reasons most of us have spent the big bucks on a big name 1911.

1) We've either been burned one too many times by Brand X, Y or Z.

2) We understand and appreciate quality on a level that borders on/surpasses anal retentivity, and we don't let the pricetag deter us from owning that quality.

3) We have plenty of money and go for the Bling Appeal.

(I fall into categories 1 and 2. I still own, trust, and often carry the P13 that my Les Baer replaced as primary CCW...it just took a whole lot more work to make trustworthy)

Put me down for #2.
Ordering an Ed Brown Fullsize Kobra to keep my Les Baer company.

Dont bet on it. Some of my most expensive 45's, several Wilson CQB's, and 2 Ed Brown Kobra's racked up more frequent flyer miles being sent back to the factory. These pistols aren't immune to the QC problems that their less expensive counterparts sometimes have. Plenty to talk about.

If we did that , we would have twenty different 1911 forums to be able to include all the specialised 1911 customisers on the market.

Sorry to say but thats not going to happen.

How about just one all encompassing high-end 1911 forum, not seperate Wilson, Baer, Brown, etc.?

There is an seperate forum for all you high end users... it's titled "other".....

I've nothing against Ed Brown, but I'd take a true-custom Rock River (built to my specs) over these any day of the week.

I'd also love a gun built my Ned, Chuck, Stan, Hilton, Ted, Lew, CT, etc., but I can't wait that long.

Why in Gods earth would post such a moronic statement in a "High End" 1911 thread? You should be beaten with a rubber hose just for plain stupidity.

I don't want to get into a pissing match with you Lump, but that's the least intelligent thing I've ever heard you say. I'd be happy to put my LB up against your Wilson any day of the week, but it might get prohibitively expensive...seeing as how I have over 3K rounds through mine now without a failure. I believe that your Wilson is capable of the same reliability. The only difference we have here is that I am willing to admit that your choice of a duty/carry weapon is just as good as mine.

Who carries a gun without putting it through it's paces first anyway? Mine has yet to malfunction, and it loosened up after about 700 rds. I don't have any problems with any functional or clearing drills, and I practice those almost every weekend.

Me too! [ur]m1911.org is another wealth of information. CoC on the 1911 boards seems to be quite a bit more strict than here, but it ensures the topics stay on track and they won't tolerate trolls.

(and the Springfield/Kimber/Baer/Colt/yourbrandnamehere debate rages on those sites as well)

Because I think my Kimber and mil-spec would perform similar to a higher end 1911?

What does that prove? I have a very hard time believing that it would turn out otherwise. And if it did, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

If you're that antsy, go to the "other" section. The reason I am posting here AT ALL is because this is "handgun discussion" and I am simply discussing handguns. If you were going to post something about baer's or wilson's, I'd leave ya alone.
Link Posted: 3/6/2005 3:59:07 PM EST
So does my Springfield TRP operator count as a "low"end 1911? I mean the MSRP on it is 1640, not too far below the wilsons. I havent had any problems with it either. I was looking at the wilson CQB's but they didnt have any in stock and it would have taken a month. I think that people should be happy with what they own. Just cause i dont own a Wilson or Baer or Brown 1911 sure as hell doesnt mean that i dont admire and respect the guns.

Dude, if you ever get a good paying job by the time you hit 22, save up some money and buy a few 1911s to play with. Until then, your opinion is worth about as much as one of those dried, bleached dog turds you find in the yard after the spring thaw.

I'm sure you would, and I am sure it would fare quite nicely. They'd probably do the exact same thing up until we got WAY up in the round count, WELL PAST what any firearm would have to endure in any real world situation in terms of round count. Accuracy wise though, I am sure there are plenty of high end 1911's that could match it, and a few that may even do better. Anything is possible.

Regardless, it was a quick response to what was one of the most arrogant, foolish, and stupid comments I have ever had directed toward me here.

+1 I agree with Colt45guy on this one. I've handled (but not shot) 4 Les Baers, two of which were "1.5" 50 yard guaranteed" models, and they're no worse than anything else out there when it comes to pulling back the slide. I have no where near the 1911 experience as either Lumpy or Colt45guy do, but none of the Les Baers I've handled are hard to pull back. They do have small clearances though for the rails, which means lack of wobble on the slide.

Also, I'd be all up for an enhanced 1911 section as well.

It really tickles me that there continue to be morons on here that weigh a person's opinions by the number of posts they've made. I stand by my comments, and arrogant though they may be, they are essentially correct. If you also want to pound chests based on the number of firearms one owns, that is a contest you will not win. My collection is currently worth over $50,000 and includes at least 6 1911s that I currently own.

Your opinion is worth the same to me as a dried, bleached dog turd, i.e., nothing. Sorry.

Dude, if you ever get a good paying job by the time you hit 22, save up some money and buy a few 1911s to play with. Until then, your opinion is worth about as much as one of those dried, bleached dog turds you find in the yard after the spring thaw.

Wow. 154 post tough guy.

I'm perfectly happy with my MK23. Wanna put your high end 1911 against my MK23 in an accuracy/reliability contest? Didn't fucking think so.

Also, are you talking about any 1911, or higher end ones? Because I also have 2 1911's. Springfield loaded, and a TLE RL 2...so...I'd have to hope that my opinion is worth something to you...

Sorry.

"Wanna put your high end 1911 against my MK23 in an accuracy/reliability contest? Didn't fucking think so."

You should always wait for an answer before making stupid retorts.

Fuckin' amateurs.

We don't give a damn how many 1911s that you have or how much money you have invested in guns. Don't come here and give people shit like this.

Fucking troll.

PS, I have $8,000 in guns and 1 1911. But at least I'm not an asshole.

Your problem, Jack, is that you don't know when your chain is being jerked. At least I'm not a fucking moron.
