My buddy in a local gun shop took in this revolver in trade and has asked me for help in determining its origins.  He has reached out to S&W and to the public relations folks for that Wayne Newton, but has not heard anything yet.  Do any of you know anything about this revolver, its origins, and how it came to be?

Thanks!

I can say I met Mr. Newton in the late 70's, a very nice guy and that he carried
a S/S revolver as did Bear his bodyguard..

The no-dash 66 was made 70-77. It is a fairly desirable in it's own right. I have never seen smooth Magnas, so I would assume those stocks are not original. Other than that, it looks in decent shape.

You could letter it (costs $75) but all that will do is tell you where it originally shipped and what configuration it was in. I highly doubt you will ever link it back to "the" Wayne Newton.

Could very well be.  As I recall he is a gun guy.  He may have lost it in his bankruptcy.  I'm sure he has a website, maybe you could send a message via that.

Very cool piece, good luck with the search.  It's definitely an interesting find, even if it doesn't add substantially to the value.  Wayne Newton is on Twitter, maybe DIRLAUTH there.

BTW, anyone know where I can get "Liza Minnelli, 1974" engraved on a G17?

I'd post it on the Smith and Wesson Forums. Those guys have forgotten more than most of know about S&W.

Already done, but thanks for the suggestion.  Looks like our best bet will be to pester Mr. Newton and see what he has to say on the matter.
