Sorry to be so harsh on the Hi-Point line.
However, we are on a forum were even a .22lr AR-15 will run you $500 plus dollars and for a .223 AR-15, what $750?
I know there is a market, hopefully legal, for those inexpensive guns.

However, anything with all of the risk of kabooms, a bad round from the factory, ill-maintained CNC machines, there is a lot to go wrong and a gun could turn grenade in a heartbeat.
I had a friend shooting my Glock 21 and a brass case failed, fired out of battery and only the magazine lost its spring and end cap and I replaced a $10 part and it is back in business. In a gun with less hardened metal, I fear he could have bit it and it could have torn up his thumb or shooting hand.
Guns are dangerous and shooting ill-designed or poorly constucted gun is very risky.
If there were such a deal and safe, you'd see police departments across America packing Hi-Points.
They don't for a reason.
I want to support all gun manufacturers because I believe in the Second Amendment.
But this is different.
If you want affordable better quality guns, look to Kel Tec. They actually make some decent 32 acp, 380, and 9mm handguns. $200 and yes, you'll need to fluff and buff them. maybe one trip back to the factory. BUT they have been working for lots of us.
Or step up to a Ruger - built like tanks and are used bya few LEAs.
The Star Firestars can also be had in the $330 range. A guy already mentioned the FEG Hi-Power clone. Arcus also made a nice clone. A South African company made the TZ-99 a clone of the Sig P226 and I stupidly did not buy one. All on the affordable side.
Just be safe not sorry.
