My father really doesnt have any interest in shooting, he has a shotgun for HD.
I have invited him to go shooting with me and has shown interest in going to the range with me.
I own only semi-auto handguns and rifles like 1911's, PX4, AR's and AK's and etc.........
You see, its not his generation and would like to purchase a classic revolver type that he would really enjoy.
What I mean by "his generation" is an old timie type like 45 long cut, or 38 long.......... I dont know if thats right either.

As for myself, I dont own a revolver maybe never will but I am going to buy one for him.

This is what I am looking for as far as features..................

Revolver
single-action
a true classic round like 45 long colt

I think maybe we could really spend some time together if he would appreciate a true american classic firearm.

please point me toward a great firearm that he would like.

oh I forgot to mention................he loves western type music and movies.

A Super Blackhawk (44 Rem Mag) or the Blackhawk chambered for the 45 Colt.

As far as old-timey, you could go with the Rugers, but personally, I'd go with something a little more modern.  The .357 has been around since the '20s and it's much cheaper than the .45 LC, also more widely available.  Don't know if anybody makes a SA handgun in that caliber, but I'd try to find one.  MJD

One of the new flat top Ruger Black Hawks in .357 mag would be sweet. I have been eyeing one myself at the local shop. He could shoot .38 special through it, cheap and fun to shoot.

The new Taurus "Gaucho" might be worth a look too.  One of the major gun mags has it on the cover with a big article, but I forget which mag.

the blackhawks are sweet.  but if you spend the extra money on the convertible you can shoot 9mm out of it all day--easier on the wrists and the wallet.    i love mine.  also they look great and the customer service can't be beat.

also you can get either the blackhawk or super blackhawk in either .44mag or .45colt.  the .45 can also be had in a convertible so you can shoot .45acp all day long.

Add one vote for the Ruger Vaquero

i have mine in 45LC and LOVE IT!

Cant go wrong with it - and for when you really wanna start conversations at the range buy the corbon 45LC Magnum +P rounds. the ruger is the only 45LC that i know of that can handle them.

my. 02, hope it helps
