I am in the market for another handgun, and I am really thinking about a CZ. I have had the chance to shoot a few and they are really well built pistols.

I am going to buy this gun just on looks ( I know that is a BAD move) but I really want a Bren Ten, and I will never be able to afford one, so the CZ or EAA will be a close copy.

I am leaning twords the CZ, because they are a great company and I know there gun shoot.

The only problem I see with the CZ97 is that it is a little too big for my hands. The Witness feels just fine, but I don't know which one to choose

What do you guys think, and should I be looking for any other 45?

Thanks

I looked at the CZ 97 also. It is a well built and beautiful handgun. CZ support as well.
My drawback was that the grip frame is too big for me. That makes it  a dead deal. I cannot afford to buy just on looks.
The CZ which fits me best and also has desirable features for me is the PO-1. Just awsome. Deal killer on that one is the decocker. Not my thing. Damn that decocker.

My 97B is really nice.  I'm not sure I'll ever get rid of it.  I kick myself every day for not getting the blued model while they still made them.

My local gun store tells me that EAA is hell to deal with on warranty issues. So for this reason, I bought a CZ instead.

Thanks for the heads up Bob.

By the way how is the CZ tactical shooting??? That is a great looking pistol.

I've got a Witness in .45 and can't say a bad thing about it.  It is reliable, accurate, and fits my hand very well.  I have a CZ75 in .40, so I can't speak to the 97, but i've also had no problems with it.  I got both for extremely good prices both in like new condition.  My preference always goes to the .45, so I have to say I have a minor preference for the Witness due to that.  I would say get which ever you will enjoy shooting more.  You mention that the Witness feels better in your hand.  You may wish to go with that for that reason alone.  If you aren't going to enjoy shooting it, what's the point in having it?

AJ

I have read that Tanfoglio's quality control has gone down lately, which is a shame if it is true.  The ones I have shot have been good guns but I am just passing on what I read.

The CZ-97 is an excellent gun.

I picked up a witness .45/.22 combo
for $399 5 years ago. The gun has been
outstanding. Shoots great and there is
a nice balance to the pistol. Feeds everything
from reloads to hollow points.

My scores have increased dramatically since I switched from the 92FS & I've only shot the TS twice. No telling what I can do with it with 10-12 matches under my belt!

Several other shooters have tried my TS & are looking at it for replacements of their current shooters as well.

I love my CZ-97B (Polycoat, which is nice for durability but not as pretty).  It is VERY accurate, low recoil, and looks great, I also like the safety that allows me to carry it cocked and locked like a 1911.  the only trouble is finding leather for it, though you'll have the same problem with a witness.

I'd say go with the CZ, it's a classic and it is hard to find, that beats the witness anyday as well.

Thanks for all the info.

I told my FFL to order the CZ97 B blued model today. It will be close to $600 out the door.

I can't wait to shoot it.
