I just ordered one in stainless from CDNN today. I can't wait until it arrives.

What types of .40 S&W ammo are you guys using for personal defense carry? Are there any advantages or disadvantages to using 165 grain or heavier ammo in a USP Compact with its shorter 3.58" barrel barrel?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks, but which bullet weight? The .40 S&W Federal Hydra-Shocks come in 135gr, 155gr, 165gr and 180gr varieties.

Hydra-Shock isn't really that great of a bullet, I would choose something else like an SXT, or a gold dot. As for weight I would go heavy, 165 or 180.

I prefer 155gr Gold Dots. Right now I've got more 180gr Federal HST's.

Use anything that is "bonded" i.e. Speer, Winchester PDX1 and Federal(???).

I use Winchester's PDX1 165gr in my USPC 40

+1, it's the only load my department authorizes in .40 S&W.

Corbon DPX 140 gr. Barnes solid copper bullet. 1200FPS . . Nothing will best a Barnes Bullet or a solid copper bullet. Midway has them and they shoot excellent in the Compact. Second choice Gold Dot and the heavy 180 shoots very nice. They will shoot good regardless of grain at a short distance from qualty bonded bullets. Probably the big advantage would be to change to Heinie Sights.

I like the 180gr Hydrashocks. I carry them in a full size USP .40 and in a Springfield XD Subcompact .40. The bullet expansion is the same out of both. I've never had any malfunctions with them either.
