I love the looks of this gun more than any other and I know they shoot,

unless you plan to open carry or not carry this at all i'd stear clear. it's a great gun no doubt but its large and you just arent gonna want to tuck that in your pants. I may be beating a dead horse but i was once in your shoes and wanted the mark but was convinced to get the usp tac 45 acp. its a great gun for half the cost and its smaller but has just about the same perfromance in every single area. it's also a tad bit easier to find a holster for other than the drop leg ones. for so long i carried the tac in my drop leg but people kept asking me was I a cop as well as cops so i just bit the bullet and searched the net for a non duty hoslter that i could pull my shirt or jacket over. it will print depending on what you have on because its not a small gun but its better than drop leg. unless you are dead set on the mark get the tac.

+1

The Mk23 isn't for everyone. Hit a gun store or show and get the chance to really handle one. Their a handful when shooting unsupported offhand and you may not groove on the weight of them. The 23 worked for me as I'm 6-8 at 350 and the grip fits me better than anything else straight out of the box. You will completely enjoy the out of the box accuracy and the softer recoil should you go the full size route.

Good luck and let us know what you do.

Thanks for the replies guys...

I know it is a big gun but it is not something I plan on trying to carry concealed - I have a S-W 340 or a Colt Defender for those roles.

more interested in a super-accurate .45 ACP and of course it is an H-K

ok good luck with it. tell us how you enjoy it once you get it then. they are becoming harder and harder to find as well. you cant walk into many shops and ask for it and they have it right there. the compacts are always there but the mark and the tac are hard to come by.

I love mine.

I didn't buy it to carry.

I bought it because its a God damn HK MK23.  Plain and simple.

If its too heavy, let your balls drop and hit the gym.  My 5'1" ex could hold the thing and fire it just fine.

You should buy it, simply because it combines extreme accuracy and extreme reliability in one package that has virtually no recoil, and can swap parts with any other mk23 without fear of loss of accuracy.

In otherwords, it rocks.

Just cleaned my Mark, was at the range today, and once I was done, I just held it and admired it.  I was getting one inch groups at 10 yds., 2 inch groups at 25 yds and I was hitting steel plates at 50 yds 9 out of 10 rounds.  Feels great, recoil is low and its damn accurate.  5'9" 165 LBS, no problems with it at all.

Buy it in the spirit of American gross excess. Besides, couldn't you just get an under-arm or should rig, and wear it under a jacket? I saw the guy in Titanic whip out his full size 1911 from an under arm holster.

Just got back from the range with mine.  Man do I love this gun!  You won't regret it if you get one - its actually a pretty comfortable pistol to shoot - its not nearly as humongous as people would lead you to believe.
