Well after a long wait I got my Mil-spec back.  This thing is one hell of a shooter.  So smooth.

ok details

Kim Diamond Ahrends Gaboon Ebony grips
installed the 10-8 straight 8 sights with ledge
Milled the front sight for dovetail
flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop
hammer
EGW grip safety. Installed and blended
SV ambi safety- fit/install
SV Trigger kit with medium insert.
KG gunkote frame and slide OD.  Small parts are kg black
Edges were milled to a bevel.
Trigger job
tuned extractor
tuned everything else. lol

let see what else.  Gutted the main spring housing lock and installed all normal 1911 parts.
Its an "NM" frame which had a very tight slide to frame match already and the bushing was already perfect so those didnt need to be messed with at all.

Very happy with how it shoots.  Eats FMJ like candy and does the same for my reloaded semi-wad cutters.

This gun is gonna get run pretty hard.  I just wanted a no bs gun.  Thats what I got.  Very happy.

The only thing im thinking of changing is the grip panels. May get a set of VZ operator 2's in dirty olive..thoughts?

Looks good.
How come you didn't get any front strap treatment done?

Thought about it but I've never really had an issue with losing grip because of the smooth front.  Decided to pass on it.

Looks very nice....how long was the wait?

Very nice, I have wanted to send mine off to be cut for normal sights, that is my only complaint with the Mil Spec is the GI style sights, from my experience with pinned front sights is that they always end up coming loose after 1,000 rounds or so plus daily carry.

Congrats, looks great.

Thanks.  Quote was 6-8 but took 14.  He had some things come up that slowed him down a bit.  Like every gun related item he is swamped.  Not gonna lie I was getting upset toward the end because of the wait but once I seen it and especially when I shot it it was worth the wait.  He does great work.  Some of the guns on his website are amazing.

believe it or not originally thats all I wanted done and bam it turned into this. lol  But I agree on the pinned site.  Sometimes they stay forever but sometimes they work loose all the time.  This is now my go to gun for everything.  no fluff just function.  I didnt want to have to worry about it coming loose if it got banged around.

the black accents on OD is really doing me, and I usually only like black pistols.  Are you a lefty, or did you just want the ambi thumb safety?
I absolutely agree on the VZ's. Aliens in the same color would look nice too

Thanks.

And I can shoot both.  But I wanted the ambi safety just in case.  Liking it so far.

And I was debating the aliens also.
So many choices. lol

Nice looking gun....

I'd definitely go with the VZ grips.

If you are mag shopping I just picked up some Tripp 10 rounders.

I've always used Wilson 7, 8, and 10 round capacity mags in my 1911s but I heard good things about Tripp.

Haven't got to shoot them yet but they seem to be even a step higher than Wilson in fit and finish if that's possible.

Thanks

And I've tried most of the top ones.  Wilson and CMC work good. But the best mags I've found function wise are the good old 7 round stock mags that came with the gun and the 10 extra I got with the coupon.  They have been flawless.  That is what I use the most.

Stay away from Pro-Mag.  They are absolutely horrendous.
