I have been using a Milt Sparks PCM-H for the last 4 years and want to try carrying my spare mag on my belt.  I currently carry on my right hip at 4ish and have a pager and a leatherman on my left side from 3 to 3:30 ish.

Can anyone suggest anything so that I can carry a spare mag on my belt.  My only thought is get a leatherman pocket clip and put a spare mag in a knife/multi-tool pouch.  Any suggestions on what carrier I should use if I don't go with the knife/multi-tool pouch?

The Glock brand mag carriers are excellent and only cost around $8.

As much as I love Comp-Tac's single-stack mag carriers, I equally hate their double-stack mag carriers. The GLOCK brand mag carrier isn't bad if you're carrying a full size mag, otherwise the mag drops down too far and is a bear to grab on to. Despite the ridiculous wait, Raven Concealment's mag carrier really is great in my opinion.

Already been said in this thread, but my favorite single mag carriers are the Comp-tacs and the Raven Concealments.

The GLOCK OEM are the best. I wish I had figured that out ten years ago before I spent $35-50 on Blade-Tech, Milt Sparks, etc.

I've been using the ones from Kaluban Cloak, which are similar to Raven.  They are awesome.  Excellent retention and an extremely low profile.

something minimal like a kydex clip-on.   I don't like to thread one on a belt.

I like this one.

$8 and tough enough.

Hey, if you're going to carry a spare magazine, carry a full sized magazine.

They fit the smaller guns, and if you actually have to reload, you need the rounds.

I like the Fobus padle.

Unless you're a weirdo like me and carry a G36. No such thing as a full sized mag for those.

I have lost track on how many mag carries I have tried.

Milt Sparks

5 Shot Leather

Raven

Loopers

Custom Creationz

and on and on

Out of all those I love the Comp-Tac single mag pouches above all else.

I just Ordered a Minotaur pouch for my G-17 mags.
I will let you know how that works out.

I've tried the Comp-tac pouches, and find them too bulky and less concealable than other options.

I use Kytex Gear mag pouches, and am very happy with them. They're a good design, very simple and concealable. They're also very reasonably priced.

I played with the Glock magazine carrier in the store and it felt extremely loose. Does it retain the magazine when it's actually worn from the tension of being pressed against the body?

The GLOCK pouches are nice and snug. There is a little bump molded into the carrier that snaps into the mag catch notch on the magazine. Are you sure you weren't looking at a 10/45 pouch? I have both and they aren't marked either way.

The Glock pouch is rock solid. Don't let your initial impressions fool you.

You do need to get the right one. SM for .380-.45GAP and LG for 10mm/.45ACP.

I checked it out at the funstore, and the guy behind the counter tried a 10mm/45 mag in it as well. It didn't retain either one. Does it only snug up when it's worn?

It does get much tighter when worn.
