hello all, I just bought a new glock 17 gen 4 model and have not had a chance to take it to the range. I had hoped that it would have come with  the "02" spring to avoid the problems that haunt some models but it didnt.  So I have a few questions, will buying a lighter 13# spring do the same thing as requesting the newer spring from glock?  Will the older gen 3 single spring assembly work on a gen 4? Again I dont know if my g14g4 will have the issue some have had but if it does I guess im looking for advice to nip it in the butt early before my confidence is shattered in the gun.

also im looking for extended controls, anyone know of any such products that fits the gen 4 models specifically the mag release?

No a gen 3 spring will not work.

As for extended controls, the mag release is already extended compared to gen 3. I find it to be about right.

What is the spring fix? Did this apply to the G22 also?

The springs that were put in the 9mm's and .40's were actually intended for the .40 cal Glocks in the first place, it just got cascaded onto the 9mms as well, IIRC.

The .40's needed the heavier spring.

That's why there were many reports, initially, of the 9mm Gen4's not functioning with lighter plinking loads (what 99% of the population shoots).

I think with a new gun, the first thing you want to do is shoot it and go from there. If you have a problem, glock will take care of it for you.
