I've been contemplating getting my 35 machined for a Trij RMR and have seen some setups with both tall suppressor sights and some with none at all.

My first inclination is to keep sights and have the slide machined forward of the dovetail and install Ameriglo tall sights.
I do this because optics can fail, and when I have my can mounted I'll still be able to see over it with them.

My 2nd option is to have the rear dovetail machined out and pull the RMR back a little and go with that.  It would look much cleaner to me, and I'd be using a dual-illuminated model that does not require batteries.

What say the hive?

I'm going to do the same thing to my G22 and use tritium suppressor sights, redundancy and all.....

Here's my G17 with Ameriglo Suppressor Height sights and Trijicon RMR...work performed by Mark Housel of L&M Precision Gunworks.  I like the suppressor sights - gives a frame of reference for the red dot actually.  I tend to pick up the front sight before the red dot during the drawstroke - the red dot doesn't show up until I'm nearly at full extension.  I find that I'm still slower from the holster with the RDS, but I'm more accurate - especially at distance.

Good info about having a faster sight acquisition and I haven't shot with a RMR yet but handling them at work I see why they're a good addition to many platforms.

Now to find the appropriate RMR for this project.

Are there any green reticle models that are tritium powered?

On my 35 I have the tritium suppressor sights and the RMR.  Never any trouble.

Taller sights and wider rear notches increase speed without sacrificing accuracy.
