That article really doesn't go into how a MIPR or transfer of government property would work. Essentially its just a wordy way of saying that since SOF units are Title X supported by two different entities, those entities have separate and different procurement processes.

So, I can totally believe that USSOCOM found out about DHS or DOD sourced pistols and had them transferred onto their property logs and thence issued. Doubly so if someone wrote a JUON stating that A) we need a compact 9mm pistol B) we found out entity X is sitting on 10000 of them C) can you please source these from entity X?

During the standup of Iraqi security forces, there were all sorts of COTS pistol purchases made, including Smith, Glock, Walther and Sig.

ETA: I never have seen any combined number of how many or what types of COTS pistols were sourced for partner force issue, or how many we retained or resold. I know for example that at least two CA and one PSYOP unit were carrying P99s through multiple pumps in Iraq.

Don't forget the Ruger P95 from Armor branch procurement.

There were definitely a lot of different pistols out there. I remember back in 2005, one of our young officers that was working with a PRT and SF team in Ninewa was carrying what I believe was a Sig SP2022 (it was a polymer frame Sig, and I think that was the model that was around in 2005). He didn't have a pistol and was participating in engagements with locals, so the team he was working with loaned it to him for the deployment.

A small number of the Customs G19s had a barrel drop issue which lead to a distinctive type of failure to feed.  Glock supplied numerous magazine iterations, each with a different magazine follower angle.  These were designated by a dot and then a series of single numbers on the back of the magazine.  This fix was still in progress after the formation of DHS.

At the risk of thread veering, I've followed this thread and other threads for a while now....and have been wondering why HK pistols seemed to have fallen out of favor in the specwar and other communities. I was unaware of any serious issues with any HK pistols.

Here are pics from a celebrity/SF charity shoot. You can see one is a Glock 34 with Holosun, others are standard with Delta Point.

Does anyone remember CPT. Chang passing out the Glock 18’s at K2?
I snagged 2 for my ODA prior to our trip to J-bad!  We had to return them, but they were fun while we had them.
Does anyone remember learning w only had 5k of 9mm at K2?  Yeah, that was my ODA that bogarted it!

Looks to be the same setup from earlier in the thread with the Dawson night sights and G22AAC code

Could be 34s and a 17. No real way of knowing unless we get more info from the guy who took it.
It does make me wonder if the 34/35 slide was thrown onto the frame and if it's mismatched. Definitely got me wanting a six second mount again.

I got my G19 from the unit training IP’s in Ramadi, they had a frickin pallet of them. I am pretty sure I saw G26s on some 160th pilots and the weirdest sidearm I saw were USAF AWACs crew with HK P7’s. They told me they were issue for the multi national crews manning nato awacs.

Reason I’m leaning on the 35,22 is based on what Pressburg has said about 17s with kkm comps not cycling reliably.

Neat thread, lots of cool info.

My first exposure to Glock in the .mil was when I was helping some Army dude clean out the bed of truck (Hilux) and saw .40 casings in the bed. I was like "dude you shooting .40?", "yup" was the answer and he had a G22 on his hip. I could take a wild guess who he was working for.

With other Army cats carrying Glock 19's and seeing the breakage on 226's I was sold on Glock during that time frame.

Sold my Sig Sauers and haven't looked back.

Its an SF case, wether that glcok is his personal idk. Seems like a stretch to be allowed a personal firearm even for socom, but idk. Maybe CD could comment on that. He (the guy who is issued the case) did state that upper was built for them and is a .223 wilde so maybe they also acquired the glocks the same way.

Note that it also appears to be a Gen 5 frame, modified. Ambi slide release, modified trigger guard, and "gas pedal" cut on the frame (I think that's the term for it).

I bet those Gen 5 Glock 17s in this thread with Deltapoint Pros are actually Glock 17 MOS3 models.. milled by Glock specifically for the DPP..

Yes this exactly. You can see in a couple pics that they aren’t MOS models I.e. with multiple baseplates. I wondered who did the milling but now reading about the “MOS3” I.e. “deltapoint specific milling” being a Glock product done for a military contract... I think that’s what we’ve been seeing in those pics of Gen 5 G17s with Deltapoints.
