Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in here.
I haven't shot the pistol you're asking about, but it's the internet so I won't let that stop me from blathering on.
I am not sure who Firestorm really is. I have seen Firestorm .45s that I am 90% were Llamas, therefore I suspect they are crap. Like a lot of "Yugo" guns, you could get a great one that was assembled well and shoot 1000's of rounds through it without trouble or you might get one that was milled wrong and shoots 3" left and you can't fix it or the safety falls off, or whatever. There are better .380s out there of similar size, Sigs spring to mind. I might gamble on Firestorm for a play gun, but not for my wife to carry.
I think .380 is a round that will not reliably stop a fight. It is better than nothing, but I don't think it reliably stops fights. Those little rounds kill a lot of people, but they don't stop them from attacking, they often die much later.
There are small enough 9mm pistols out there that I would steer her towards one of those. I have not shot Kahrs, but have heard guys here speak highly of them, and they do make some small ones. I think a Glock 26 is a better choice than a .380, as is a .38 revolver.
