When did it first become available, and what was the price at that time?

My father-in-laws swears that they had them about 5 years ago at Cabela's for under $500.

Any help would be great.

If I remember correctly CDNN was whoring them out for around 399.99 at one point.

It was only a couple of years ago 1000rds of M193 cost $200 and is now $390ish , so $899 for the FN 5.7 isn't a big surprise.

I am not surprised at today's price...just NEVER remember seeing them for under $500. I bought my first one about 4 years ago, and it was $850ish then.....ended up selling it. Bought another one a couple moths back and they all run about $1000. I just assumed since they haven't ben out for too many years that they had always been $800+.

Splinter Cell and anti-gun hype drove up the price.

At least that's my theory

I bought an IOM with the round trigger guard when they first came out and it was $799.

Maybe he saw some used ones after they had been out a while? There is no way anyone was selling new ones to the public for less than $500

Those are my thoughts exactly.

PArt of me thinks he is also trying to be a bit of an a$$, that is his way of telling me the gun is way over priced or something.....he is like that sometimes

I purchased my first Five-seveN almost 6 years ago at a local shop when I lived in GA for $750 out the door. There were better deals out there but when you add shipping and a transfer fee that some shops charge I didn't do to badly.

When I first saw one for sale was April 2004, as soon as I got home to Texas from OIF 1. Average price was $800 on gunbroker, I paid about that much with shipping and ffl fees.

They were never under $500, he must have seen a regular FN sitting next to it and saw that price tag. Since they were introduced, I have never seen them under the mid $700's, now the going price is $800-$1000.

I was in our local fun shop today and they wanted $1295!

They have a program for active LEO's, first responders and military. That price is a little lower than what I used to see them for, but not a lot.

I don't think they've ever been $500 or less.
