For me I would say the FN FNX45 tactical.

I like the 1911'ish controls and the glock capacity. Backstrap is interchangeable and it is the only 45auto that come with threaded barrel, raised night sights, optic ready and a case for 3 mags and a can.
Being a HK guy I loved the mk23 but finding them now at a fair price and dealing with HK wasn't for me.

I just picked up one of those and I agree it is quite the package.

To all of you who helped, my sincerest gratitude. I got my MK23 just a few days ago, and picked up an Osprey (jail) this morning.

Now on the look out for a Baer or Colt 1911.

Thanks for the feedback and wishing you all a happy new year.

To give Colt a plug, my black ionbond Colt Custom Shop M45a1 is a spectacular shooter. I know reception is a little mixed on the production ones, but the CCS ones are amazing.

HK for a bombproof .45
FNX for slide mounted optics
M&P for an actual usefully sized pistol with great ergos and features... bonus, it also fits same holsters as other caliber M&Ps
Glock 21 for another rugged and pretty useful option
SIG P220 if you're feeling nostalgic for muzzle flip and single stack mags
SIG P227 if you like the P220 but wish it was fatter

CZ 97 if you're a CZ guy.  It's too heavy to carry but that's no problem since you can't find holsters
1911 if you like history and a challenge

Spot on but those three made my almost spit out my coffee. I was just thinking how much I like my P220 Carry, but how I probably wouldn't replace it if I lost it. Sort of like my buddy's grandfather's comment about his wife; "I would take a million dollars for that woman, but I wouldn't give a nickel for another just like her."

Hk USP full size for me. I don't shoot or carry it as much as the USP compact, but it's just something I have to own. An end of days gun.

I wish the first one came with paperwork/box.

Nice. Is that setup comfortable to shoot without ear pro?

USP Tactical.  Even though the FN has a common rail and a rmr mount, the USP is just...better.

Honestly though...my gen 3 G21 shoots damn near as well as my USP Tac did.  I hate that it's true, but it is.

Imagine getting a handjob in a dark room from a super hot chick who knows what she's doing, or from a fairly normal looking chick who also knows what she's doing.  The only difference is you'll enjoy the hot chick more when shes not jacking you off.

FNX 45 Tac.
Laser LIght Combo. RMR?
16 rounds (or 18 rounds with extended baseplate) of 45 Super? 185 grains at 1400 fps?

Or better yet, converted to 460 Rowland?  255 grains at 255 FPS?

Yes please.

Nice, I still haven’t tried out my MK23. Kind of don’t want to as I have people telling me that they are ceasing production to focus on the more profitable ones and there is a chance it may appreciate. I still see them on GB quite frequently, though prices do seem to be creeping north.

Better pics of today’s score:

I’d keep my TRP 1911 because I’m probably never spending that much money on a pistol again.

I've got lots of 1911s, a 41, and a G4 30S.

This particular re-built 1920 commercial pistol is 101 years old and shoots as well or better as it did the day Colt shipped it off.  This would be my keeper.

The only .45s I currently own, and the only ones I'd definitely keep, are two 1911s - one is a DW and the other an old Springfield.  Both were guns that came to me in the worst way possible, the death of a family member.  Lots of fond memories shooting those guns when they were my Uncle-in-Laws, so they will always stay in the safe.  I set myself up to load .45 years back, so every once in a while I run off some 230 gr FMJ over Bullseye.

Can you elaborate on this? Both will handle .45 Super or a .460 Rowland conversion, and the FN has the aforementioned advantages and also costs a fair amount less.

Is it that the design is older and more proven and wudely used? Or does it have to do more with the HK name and higher price?
