I just Purchased an XD 45GAP service model and was interested in getting the 9mm conversion barrel - http://www.pistol-gear.com/proddetail.php?prod=02PA&cat=8 - for practice and plinking. Does anyone have any experience with the EFK barrels, especially for this application. I contacted "pistol gear" and they have yet to try that particular conversion, 45 GAP to 9mm. Any feedback would be appreciated.

How's the .45 GAP shooting for you? I just got one and haven't taken it to the range yet.

I'd also like to know how the conversion barrels work. 9mm would be cheaper....and easier to find in mass quantities.

I did a side by side with a Kimber 45 auto, not positive on model number, and was quite happy with the performance at short range. Please note that I am NOT professionally trained, I just try to pay attention to those who are. She kicks a bit like a mule and behaves a little bit better. Even I could hit the broad side of a barn with her. I just wish to practice without the second mortgage thing.

The breech face on the xd 45 gap is too big for the 9mm, 357 and 40sw. Even with a 40 the breech face is so big that the case is loose and the extrctor can not hold it.

Great info. Much appreciated. Guess I'll have to follow the ARFCOM motto and "Buy Both".
