I got a Rural King sales insert in my local paper this morning and saw that they had a EAA SAR B6P 9mm SA/DA 17+1 pistol on sale for $238.00. I know a guy that works there in the gun section, gave him a call, and he said he only had the display gun left and would let me have it 10% off the sale price. He said peeps were buying them two at a time.

I had him put it back for me and drove down and bought it. After tax/call-in I had around $226.00 in it. Hell, that's only $50.00 more than a High Point after tax.

I've been wanting a less expensive but reliable poly framed 9mm to keep stashed in the garage and as I have a bunch of CZ-75B mags that fits the Turk it was just the thing for me.

My only knocks on it was it's fairly stiff thumb safety (from off to on mainly) but I took it apart after shooting it and smoothed the safety up quite a bit and the typical thin slide . It's fine now.....It has a steel trigger and stainless barrel/guide rod.

I ran six mags of various flavors/bullet styles, both steel and brass cased through it at my range with out a hiccup. It's a lot more accurate than my G17 through the different loadings I tried. It really liked 124gr Canadian surplus followed closely by Wolf Military Classic 9mm steel cased. I only shot on mag of mixed HPs and it ate all of those with no problem. It's a natural pointer as are most of the CZ type grips.

I know it's not for the "why pay less" crowd but I think it's the "Deal of the Day" if you like CZs.

No. It's hammer fired. The Canik TP-9 is striker fired. You can carry the SAR cocked-n-locked.

BTW.....I just discovered it has light activated "night sights" like my CZ-75.

It is basically a witness polymer with no rail.  Parts interchange with Tanfoglio

It's not bad enough that you get all the deals on C&Rs, noooooooooooo...  Now you have to go and extend your evil reach to modern weapons too...

Well played sir...

You forgot transfer cost.

Those can range form Free to $50.00+.

Around here it averages $25.00 + $2 call-in for the state police check so that's a $275.00 gun in my AO if you order it. Still a deal though.

RK has been kicking everyone's ass on retail firearms to the point that Tractor Supply (two in my AO) is going to start selling guns. They are already undercutting Walmart and sadly one small LGS is shutting down at the end of the year because of their prices..

That said buying a gun there is a major PITA. I was the only one there, was approved in less than a minute, and it still took them 45 min to get me out the door. To add insult to injury they fucked-up the state paperwork on their end and called me today wanting me to come in and fill out another state form. I told them it was their problem and unless there was a gift certificate involved for my time/trouble I was not coming in.

A lot of people forget or disregard transfer costs it seems. They can definitely be expensive, but are not always.  In my experience about $25-$30 is average.

Why did it take so long for them to get you out of there after you were approved? Did it have to do with additional paperwork you have to do done there in your state for a handgun or something? I think personally having to pay $2 for them to call the state police is  nickle-and-diming BS, but it's not the first I've heard of that type of thing.

I wish the transfer fees in my area were $20 to $30.  The norm around here is $40, so that makes buying locally, instead of from an online retailer work out as the less expensive alternative in some cases.

The Canik TP-9 series are striker fired, but the T- and C- series are hammer fired. All are quality firearms.
