Good afternoon folks. There is no specific formum for the CZ clones, so I hope in here is OK.
Picked up my Witness last Thursday, and I finally had a chance to take it to an indoor range today. The fit and finish are quite nice, and there are no rough edges or nasty machining marks. This model has the SA/DA trigger and the frame mounted safety. While the trigger pull isn't quite as nice as my 1911, honestly, I never thought about the pull, so it fits into the good+ category. Basically, no creep, no grit. A bit of work I expect it can be made to be more like my Kimber Series I.
I put about 100 rounds throught it, all truncated ball. 50 were PMC 180gr, the other 50 were American Eagle (Federal) 200gr. There were no FTFs or FTEs, and each trigger pull made a loud noise. The spent casings were predictably getting ejected over my right shoulder and would have landed ~15ft away if the wall weren't there to block it. (I had a Delta Elite way back when that would fling the brass over into the next county...)
Overall I'd say its a very nice shooter, and everyone who tried it liked the grip size and shape. One of the tupperware shooters especially liked the grips/ergonomics that he claimed he's going out to get a Witness next week. One pleasant surprise is that the recoil isn't nearly as violent as I recall the Delta Elite being back in the mid '80s. I don't mean 'heavy recoil' so much as I mean the the DE would feel like it was torquing it's way out of my grip. The Witness has more recoil than the .45, but it seems well controlled.
That could be that modern 10mm rounds are reduced load compared to the rounds I shot in the 80s and 90s...
Over all, I like it. A lot.
I have one question: Does anyone know if CZ75/85 grips will fit the witness?
Thanks,
m
ETA: This one is silver 'Wonder' finish. Nice even finish, but a bit early to report on durability. <grin>
