My new 22/45 is not drilled and tapped.  Looking into adding a Burris Fast Fire or similar red dot.  Is it better to have it tapped or get the scope base that replace the rear sight?  What is a reasonable cost to get this work done should I go that route?

*I* would just replace the rear sight as you mention. Down the road, if you sell the gun, the new owner may not want holes in his gun.

Surely there's a B-Square for the MKIII. No gunsmithing.

Ya there is but I cant bring myself to put that on my gun.  It will either be a Weiland or just some target sights to replace my fixed ones.
