So I was cruising around some pistol wholesalers when I saw this: Double Star 1911. What is the 411 on these? Good or bad?

US cast frame (dont know where it stands w/ the caspian casts vs the imports, but i suspect its pretty good)

for the price, i'd opt for the SA mil-spec

Ive got a couple of their stripped frames I built into pistols. Went together fairly smooth if you dont count the flash left in one of the grip bushing holes. Ruined 2 bushings before I figured out what was wrong, my inexperience more then their problem though really. As for their complete pistols I cant say, but I'd buy just about any 1911 before I ever buy another Filipine made 1911.

+1

My M4 is a Double Star & is top notch.

I do wonder if the 1911 market isn't a bit crowded though & a bit tough for a mid-level 1911 maker to gain ground?????
