Question for all you Sig experts out there. Here's a picture of the new P290, however I've seen this on a few Sigs now.

If you look a the front night sight there is a HUGE gap between the bottom of the sight blade and the top of the slide.  I'm guessing if the front sight were to receive any kind of a bump it could cause it to bend frontwards or backwards possibly even sheering off the sight.

My own 226 has this too, but not near as bad as what's in this picture.

Is this a problem, shoddy QC, shoddy engineering, or is this just no big deal?

Looks like the sight dovetails should have been machined a few thousands deeper into the slide. Probably won't hurt anything though.

Think all of mine have had that gap.  Just not as bad as the picture looks.  Could be the white background making it stand out more.

My 228 has an almost imperceptible gap, really only shown if you hold it up to light. Can't really say if this 290 is the 'norm', or the background just makes it pop.

The gap is normal for some sights don't file it down!!!

Here is a pic of the front sight with Tru Glo TFO's a Sig Rep told me the gap is normal with these sights

The gap is probably there to keep the sights from maring the top of the slide. Notice the gap on the rear sight as well. People would probably be online bitching about how there sights are screwing up the finish on their slides.
