Can anyone tell me what the current issue pistol is for Russian and Romanian armies?  Is it the Makarov?

Thanks,
Mark

Russians use the Mak still. Two flavors, the PM and the PMM (pistol makarov modernized, in english) with a double column 12 round magazine. I think it's rated for +p 9x18 mak ammo too. They have accepted, but can't afford, the new PYa (pistol yarygin) in 9mm for military use.

Romanians, I THINK, use some crummy tiny .32 pistol. I also recall, years ago, stumbling across something on the interweb about them getting issued a CZ75 clone in 9x19. It looked more like a Baby eagle with the blocky slide. The picture was of US troops cross-training with Romanians and a US soldier firing it. Damned if I saved it, but I specifically remember the picture.

Didnt Romania switch to the Glock17 in the early 90's....or was that their police force? Im pretty sure some major part of the Romanian Governmanet issues Glock17's (or maybe G22's.)

Arent I a reliable source?

The Romanians are using the CZ clone. I shot one and it was very shoddy. I still have a Romy holster from A-Stan. The Romanians were great to work with. I even sponsored some to come to the US.
