I was wondering what the current 9mm ammo was in the US military. I have heard 115gr FMJ, and 124gr FMJ. I'm getting a Beretta 92FS, and wanted to start it off with the "standard" ammo.

I recently bought half a case of NATO spec Winchester Q4318 9mm 124gr FMJ. It's HOT 9mm ammo at 1235 FPS, close to +P+ specs. I've only been able to find it at two places. Costs $7 box/50 rounds.

www.ombps.com/ - won't ship to California because the owner has another store in San Jose that they have a "no compete" agreement with.

www.miwallcorp.com/ - good wholesale prices. I've bought ammo from them at gun shows for many years.

And if you reload, the military brass has crimped primer pockets. They play hell on my Dillons. Maybe thats why they are cheap? I keep my reamer handy.

Federal had an "over-run" a few years back. Came in a white box, "BALL M882" on the box. 124gr, NATO cross on the headstamp. Could tell it was a little more "stiff" than std stuff. I still have maybe 1/2 box left.

On the civilian ammo side, you can look for Fiocchi brand 124gr. FMJ. It rates 1250 FPS. The quality is first rate, and is some of the best reloading brass around.

One of the best places to get it is from Kiesler Wholesale. 1-888-543-7537, or e-mail at:

Hope your gun doesn't blow up on you.
