So the thread in GD about Colt having financial issues kinda planted a bug in the back of my head about getting a Mustang Pocketlite before they disappear... again.  Plus I just found out that Colt is offering a $75 rebate through the end of the year.  On the other hand, I can't help but wonder about QC since I haven't had the opportunity to handle a current production Mustang.

I'd be interested in hearing from someone who's had the opportunity to handle them side by side, which do you think feels better put together?  The Kimber is interesting and priced well, but I kinda like the looks of the original, and I kinda don't care for the looks of the Sig.

Thoughts?

Sig, hands down. Comes with night sights already on them, reliable & amazingly accurate for its size. Not even close, IMO.

the sig looks better, feels better and i believe it's a more modern take on the old Mustang. Plus it was available before Colt re-released the Mustang. It will also accept the colt magazines

Hmm... didn't realize about the night sights.  That is a plus, but I just think that most of the P238 variants are ugly compared to the more classic look of the Colt or the Kimber.  Maybe most of that ugliness is in the fluted grips on the more basic models, and I just need to look at grip options...

I think the amount of Kimber's you may see on your favorite website's used section should deter you from them lol. Seems once they went to mass production the quality went to hell.... Go with the Sig you won't be disappointed.

The original Colt Mustang is my every day carry.  I will never sell it. Always 100% reliable.

The new production Colt Mustang Pocketlites are absolutely top-notch. Yes, it's a shame that for the price they don't offer dovetailed Novak-style sights like every body else, but the base gun is in a league of its own IMO. The SIG P238 does have great build quality but the prestige and collectibility (and resale value) of the Colt name just isn't there.

ETA: What I would REALLY like to see is a new production .380 Government.

My wife just got the Sig two-tone and I agree about the grips. My solution is I am in the process of making her a set of redwood burl grips to fix that problem! I haven't shot a Colt but this little Sig feels pretty sweet.

I have early an early 1990's mustang, the slide stop beats up the slide a bit due to the cast construction, as I understand the new mustangs are forged, so my issue should not prop up with the new production pistols.

Well I was really holding out for a Mustang, but I wound up getting offered a trade deal I couldn't refuse on a P238 with laser on a local Facebook group.  I should have it next weekend!

You can't go wrong with the Sig or Colt. It all depends on what you want. Granted, in my opinion, Sig made the Mustang what it should have been.
