Finally after technically being out for a couple years these neat new 1911s are showing up in gun shops. I've owned Seecamp conversions and a couple Double Eagles but unit a few days ago I've only seen photos of the DAO Government Model. Though I love 1911s I never felt quite comfortable carrying one cocked and locked, so the DAO offering from Colt makes a lot of sense to me. As soon as I held one at my LGS I decided to buy it, the pistol feels great in hand and the build quality is typical Colt. Anyone else here have one and if so what do you think of it.

       The Double Eagle?

A friend had one, and said the trigger was horrible.  I haven't seen one in about 15 years.

Nevermind.  I misread your post.

This is the first I've heard that Colt is trying this again.

If you have one, please post some pictures.

Colt has the new DA-only Agent on their web site.
It's the middle gun, click on the picture to expand it:

The new DA-only is nothing at all like the ill-fated Eagle series.

hmmmm, wonder if it's related to Para's LDA lockwork ?

From initial appearance it looks like the Para LDA trigger and hammer, but the trigger pull on the LDA is much lighter. Just grasping this new Colt it impressed me and is probably the most comfortable 1911 I've ever held, we'll see how it feels while firing it.

What was the price if I may ask?

I paid $999 for it, which is close to MSRP. But if I didn't the two gentlemen standing behind me drooling surely would have.

I've seen a few at gun shows but wasn't interested enough to handle one.

I have not seen or found a Colt DAO new agent.  I would love to see pics of your DAO Colt.

Are these DAO new agents ever going to be produced, even if it's a small run??

Be interesting to see what kind of accuracy that has.  Let us know how the trench sight works.
