[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Colt .45 Mec-Gar Mags

Anyone have personal experience with these? I was at a gun store today and they had two on the shelf. I love my Sig P220 Mec-Gar mags. Anyone know of an online source if they are any good? How do they compare to Wilson's? Thanks for looking!

Mec-Gars are good mags. I've used several in the past, in early IPSC days, they ran 100%.

I have some I use for range mags and they have been 100%. I only use Wilsons for carry though

Just curious why you only use Wilson's for carry? I may just end up getting both to try.

Same reason I use Remington and Winchester value pack ammunition for practice and Carry Ranger SXT +P.

I use the mecgar mags for practice because of cost. They are relatively inexpensive and I don't worry about trashing them from practice. I carry the Wilson's because of their long term history of performance and reliability. I try to eliminate as many possibilities of malfunction as possible from my carry equipment.

When I used to be into 1911s (I will again someday, but I go in cycles) I only used Mecgar mags and had very good luck with them. I never had any mag related problems...so it was a good constant to go by when I was messing with things like recoil springs and different loads.

100% reliable. Midwayusa has them on sale for $10 or so now and again.
