Put a Colt Defender on Layaway today. It was $499, and they let me run a full mag through it first! No malfunctions at all and very accurate rapid fire at 7 yards. Super impressed! Came with 3 wilson mags and a shooting star(has a metal follower, I think it will be sitting in a drawer!)

The only problem is the rear sight is loose, but I figure thats an easy enough fix, especially if I go with different rear sights. Feed ramp did not look abused, my fingernail didn't catch on anything. Framerails looked good to.

I think I will be replacing my K40 with this gun!

Sounds like a steal. I love mine. there was a recall recently check colts website and see it that one was in the SN range.

Congratulations

Once you get it, check the number against this Colt list for recall. The recall isn't a biggie, it's for the recoil guide rod assembly.

it was made in '03 it looks like. So I shouldn't have to worry about the recall.

ya know, I was never really interested in an Officers model or Micro 1911 till I picked this up.

Really excited about it though! I'm gonna add some aluma grips, better sights and a extended thumb safety. Trigger seems pretty good AS IS.

Thatsa hell of a deal on a Defender. The Defender was the best small .45 I ever had, until Gander Mountain trashed it.
