I got offered a colt 1911 mkIV from the mid 90s for my springfield mil spec. How much are these colt worth? And is it worth the trade?
Thanks in advance

They're about equal.

Can you school me a bit? Im pretty new to 1911s. Is the fact that its from the 90s bad? How is colt warranty compared to springfields. I have read it but I know some companies stand behind their products. Is this the case with colt

If you put both guns in the classifieds the Colt would probably fetch a little more for several reasons.

A. It is a Colt

B. The Colt has machined steel and cast components where the Springfield has MIM components.  Some folks really get hung up on the MIM thing.  Personally I have had more issues with machined steel parts than MIM.  Springfield and Colt both make good internals so take that for what it is worth.

I would bet the fit on the Springfield is better than the Colt and it does not have the 80 series parts in it which makes it a winner for me.

If it's a regular Series 80 model with the polished finish, I'd say it's worth about $600-650.    If it's the matte blued / stainless / parked M1991A1 with the huge 'COLT M1991A1' rollmark on the left side, it's worth about $500.

It says colt MKIV on the left side. What would the value be on it?

Thanks!

Pictures are useful as what estimates you are getting are really just guesses.
