I usually carry a glock 26, that I bought from a dealer, so it is registered in my name.

However, I have have a friend who is selling a handgun that I want, and it would be a Face-to-Face deal, no dealer, so my name would not be registered with the gun.  (This is within my same state, where FTF transfers are perfectly legal)

Question is:  If I CCW the gun (with a permit of course), and got in to a situation where I had to use it, could you get into any trouble b/c the handgun is not registered to my name?  Do the police/DA do a look up on the firearm in a self defense situation if you aren't violating any laws?

Depends on your local laws. Here in KY there is no such thing as a registered gun...

I'd check in the SC hometown forum, but most states have no registered guns (except for NFA).

there is no registration in SC. your local FFL keeps a copy of the 4473 and IIRC a seperate form gets sent to SLED if you buy more then one pistol at once.
