It appears to be a run-of-the-mill P5, imported by Interarms.  New, yes, but they aren't rare by any standard.

For starters it is a commercial model, less made than a military. Secondly the buyer is out of his cotton picking mind! That said, I happen to have a Interarms import P5 commercial NIB. I think I may have to list it!

Look at the seller's name.  He magically made the buyer's money disappear!

About fifteen years ago, when I looked in The Gun List, these were selling new for something like $750-$900.  The buyer could have had four or five used surplus German police imports for that much cash laid down in that auction.

That is the ultra rare orange sticker model.

Is it because of the shoulder thing that goes up?

I don't understand why someone would pay that much for a standard commercial P-5. Earl's has brand new P-5s for $1595.00 for the standard and $1695.00 for the compact. I thought that was pretty expensive. There are some wealthy shooters out there that want what they want, when they want it and don't care about price. I suspect these are they same wealthy shooters that leave all that once fired brass at the range when they shoot. I love you guys, I haven't had to buy ammo in 20 years.

I have one of these. Bought in the '80s for $600. Almost unfired. But not worth 2 grand plus.
