Handguns may be mailed by a licensed manufacturer or dealer, an authorized federal agent, or an authorized state, territory, or district agent ONLY when addressed to one of the following addressee categories for use in official duties:

No. You have to use UPS/Fedex, etc. Only FFLs may mail handguns. Long guns are fne though.

Perhaps if you are friendly you can get a local ffl to ship it USPS and even for 10 surcharge it would way cheaper then UPS or FEDX

How is he supposed to walk into the postoffice to mail it legally?

you have a friend hold open the from of one of those mail drop boxes. then, without touching the box, you throw the package in the slot.
