I want to do a sort of custom Equinox finish on my P220 and am wondering if I can mill just the bluing off of my slide and get a mirrored finish? It is a stainless slide.

if you have a SiG dark slide but it is stainless...then it should be Nitron and yes...you can remove it and polish the stainless beneath...(so I've heard as I have never done this myself)

I have sand blasted the finish off of several stainless slides using aluminum oxide grit with no problem. I always left them in a matte finish, rather than polished them, but they turned out fine and do look good over the black anodized frame. If you plan on polishing the flats of the slide, be prepared to take your time and try and get the surface flat, or you will end up with wavy lines in the metal that look like sh*t in my humble opinion....

A sanding block should go a long way in preventing this, I'd think.
