I received a low RGN; 3300x via email today. From what I gather I'll be getting a call tomorrow (?).
I'm thrilled and having an oh shit moment at the same time. I thought I'd have plenty of time to prepare for the money. Getting that low of a number, for me is akin to winning the lottery. Sort of. Shouldn't have bought those last two guns in the last two weeks. dammit... that plastic is gonna melt. |

I sent my application off 9/1, so I was starting to get concerned that so many others on the CMP forum had already received their RNG number.
Funny enough, right as I was reading through the CMP thread, I received the call. I never did receive an email with a RNG #. All 4 grades were still available. |
|
|
I sent my form in on 9/1 and got my call today. 303XX RGN. They had all four grades available, but I went with a rack grade to roll the dice on getting original finish.
Got a shipping notice a few hours after my FFL sent his stuff in. |

I’m really curious what people start getting for the Range Grade guns.

I about shit my pants when she called while I was reading the email with my RGN. I half expect it to be a scam. I was number 116 in line. I have a suspicion that the demand was FAR lower than they anticipated, and I'm already setting aside money because if I'm right, the 'one per lifetime' is going to go away and even if not, I'm enlisting family to buy some next time. |

There's a running tally being kept on the CMP forums and it looks like they're filling orders a lot faster this round and also had fewer orders. They've extended the order cut off as of yesterday so that seems to suggest that there was not as much interest this round as in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if all current orders are filled by the end of the year. |

View Quote The lowest RGN to have received the call to choose grade / purchase that I've read is 33030. As some are theorizing over at the CMP forum, yes it is thought the "one per lifetime" is going to go away. Speculation of course. But the extension of the deadline (hurricane reason given) and the speed at which packets have been processed is what others are basing their assumptions on. We'll have two for our household and wouldn't mind a couple more, but we ain't rich. The option for more would have to include the reduction in current inventory in order to provide for funding of additional CMP 1911's. Not sure I like that idea just yet. |

RGN 330XX. All 4 grades still available. Really excited! I picked up a service grade in round 2, so excited to see what she gets with a field grade. |

Got mine in hand today. Much faster processing time than I expected.
I went rack grade and got a RR slide on a 1942 Colt frame (80XXXX serial). Barrel is a chrome-lined post-war replacement, but everything else looks right. The parkerizing is in pretty good shape with some wear only on the high spots and I don't see a re-arsenal stamp anywhere. |

Also thanks to the guy for sharing the "Range Grade." Yep, rack grade. The edge of the dust cover is a tiny bit bent, which is causing the drag line on the right side of the slide, and it had some minor rust under the grips and on small parts like the sear spring. That may be why it was graded rack. If anyone's got a lead on a reasonably priced wartime barrel, let me know. |

That appears to be in the 1944 Remington Rand serial range, with a commercial Colt slide. |

View Quote Yes it is a bunch of money on a gamble. I've had more time to read and think. I didn't pay much attention during the first 2 rounds so I didn't notice what folks were receiving quality wise. I imagine as a percentage of pictures posted online that a large percentage are those that ended up getting good ones and are happy. I doubt those that received something less than they would've liked have posted pics much. I did not want something I would be unhappy with and that is why I did not participate in the first 2 rounds. But to buy a "correct" Remington Rand with original finish is beyond my pay grade these days. I dunno today. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. |

I got delayed on my 4473 as I always do (even though the first 4473 to sell me the pistol went just fine!) and had to leave for a work trip so it's at my FFL. They released it when I was on my way to the airport so I'll try to upload pics when I get home. |

Here are examples of Range Grades sold at auction, looks like upgraded sights, maybe grips, if that's a tenon front sight, should be reversible.

Nice pair @drfroglegs !
The number on the grip panel as I have read is a "rack" number. As in say; an Army unit has 100 pistols and each has their own designated number for accountability when one is "checked" out for duty. A lot easier than going by the serial number. Someone with more (firsthand) knowledge may explain it much better than I just did. |

Turned my BIL on to the CMP today. He's retired Army. I showed him a picture of my Round 2 M1911A1, and he asked if I was selling it, because he wouldn't mind having one. "Well", I said, "No, but you can get your own if you submit a packet to CMP before the end of the month." He immediately looked up the CMP online, and after reading about the program, started printing out the forms. My sister just rolled her eyes and said she wasn't even going to try to stop him. As long as she can get some things done at their new (to them) house, she's agreeable to a "reward" for him.
