The writing was on the wall when round 3 was open for so long. They were fishing for any buyers. I will probably toss another packet into the mix. Not sure what I will do with it but hell you never know.

I got the call today. Field and rack grade were the only offerings. I chose field. I was really hoping for a service grade, but let see what I get. Already got the shipping notification. I’ll let y’all know in a few days.

Sent mine in this afternoon. Didn't pay for expedited shipping though, so it'll show up whenever it shows up.

Sent mine, should be there Tuesday.

Sent in my packet today arriving on Tuesday. Got a beautiful RR FG in 2022. Hoping to get a SG this time around.

My father and I just submitted our Round 4 packages.
We both participated in Round 3 and received the pistols in December 2022. |

I'd call CMP and ask about that if I were you. Their website is not very clear as to whether they count 1 calendar year from the postmark date on your packet, or from the time you choose grade and pay, or from the delivery date to your FFL, or from when you fill out the 4473. |

They should probably just let everyone order, because what difference does it make? I might just send them a packet anyways and see what they do to be honest. |

The lifetime limit is pretty dumb, I agree. I understand they are trying to prevent dealers from buying 200 guns at a time and flipping them on gunbroker for double the price, but that could be solved in other ways. |

I think the CMP 1911's are about as cheap as you're going to get. I understand that everyone on arfcom is getting Singers in the original Kraft boxes for 89.00 at yard sales, but I did hard research this summer. I had two 1911's(DCM and CMP) and wanted a 1911A1. I scoured the auction sites like crazy. I finally got a 1945 Remington Rand with a Numax slide. I thought it looked a lot like a CMP gun. I sent off to CMP for research (25.00). They confirmed it sold as a Service grade in May 2023. My price was 1480.00; The gun originally sold for 1250.00. Even low interest CMP guns are bargains.

It's the year your payment was processed that they count. That's not correct. It is the year the pistol was received. https://forums.thecmp.org/forum/cmp-sales/cmp-1911/3475051-round-4?p=3475298#post3475298 4. Anyone that received a pistol in 2023, is not eligible to purchase in round 4, even if you paid for it in 2022. The agreement with the Army was one per year and as CMP is audited by what is shipped each year, if you received one in 2023, you must wait until round 5 as it stands now. |

Replacement parts used in rebuilding programs were all contract military spec parts from various vendors. Yes some parts ( like the 50’s era colt slide on mine) look exactly like the same era commercial parts ( I guess they actually are) but bring contract parts installed by depot in a rebuild program makes them GI in my mind. |

Is there a way to check if my submission was accepted? When I went to send out my packet, I found my GCA membership had expired. I signed up, but after two weeks, I hadn't gotten my card yet. So I included the Print Proof of Membership page. I assume that is acceptable since that is a big part of why the GCA exists. But since the 1911 purchases are being run differently, I wanted to make sure it would be.

Just a heads-up about round 4.
Cmp1911admin announced that the round 4 deadline has been extended to October 31st. So they are still accepting orders for round 4 if anyone missed out. "Due to technical issues with our system, we have discovered that some emails announcing Round 4 and website postings, did not go out as they should have. Therefore in order to allow everyone that would like to submit a 1911 order packet, we have extended the deadline by 30 days, Order packets must be postmarked by 31 OCT. 2023." |

Packet received on 8/4 and got the call just now; all 3 grades are currently available!
I took a service grade and should hopefully see it next week. Will report back with pics ![]() |

Blown away; I don’t think I could have handpicked a nicer service grade pistol if I tried. I live 10 minutes from where the Remingtons were made and about an hour and a half from where the Ithaca’s were made so to have one with components from both places really gives me the warm & fuzzies.
877,xxx Ithaca frame/ RR Slide Barrel is not matching but in the same serial range I know some of you have talked about folks from other forums who are able to dig a bit deeper into the history on individual guns or those in a certain serial range; can anyone point me in that direction? ![]() ![]() ![]() *Will post better pictures in natural light when I pick it up. It was the surplus frame held by Springfield Arsenal and passed it down to Ithaca to get the factory ramp up started before Ithaca can mass produce it's own frames / parts. Ithaca took those surplus WWI frame and machine them to A1 spec. You should register and become a member of the official CMP forum, There is a section for 1911 that some users have access to remaining Ithaca records and SRS records to help members looking for a bit more history if it can be found. |
