Stupid question but I've never owned a pistol before. With rifles, I know you're supposed to clean after every shot for the first 10 shots (or something on that line). Do pistols have a different break in procedure?

Even rifle barrel break in a largely a myth.  There's kind of an ongoing debate about that, but many people who really know, say that these barrel break-in procedures are nothing but bunk.

Given that, I'm sure you'll find SOMEONE claiming they have the secret recipe to "breaking in" a handgun, but no, I"ve never even heard of one.

My break in recipe: shoot, then shoot some more.

Don't forget to clean once in a while though.
