Is the made in Italy model more desirable than a made in USA model?

This has been debated endlessly.  Functionally they are identical.  The early Italian guns were a bit smoother, perhaps nicer, than the US guns.  I have an Italian, circa 1989.

For me more than anything I prefer the straight dustcover Italian models.

I asked the same question not long ago and the answer is........................................There is no answer.  They are both essentially the same gun and it depends on who you're asking as to which one is has preference if any at all.  Mines Italian but, honestly, it makes no difference to me.

I own both an Italian built 92FS and a Maryland built M9. Aside from the minute differences between a 92FS and aM9 (dust cover, scalloped backstrap, sights) the fit and finish is the same

to me the perfect 92 FS would be a 92FS with the dot and post M9 sights. I like the backstarp of tmeh 92FS but find the M9 sights quicker to line up

I have a pair of 92 FS's . 1 USA Made . 1 Italian made . Although almost identical. I cannot say why but the Italian is smoother all around . The Action , the trigger just is

I can't comment on the USA models, but I have a 92A1 and 96A1 (ETA both Italian) and both have really nice actions.  Even nicer after I polished everything and installed the "D" hammer spring.

I originally wanted an Italian-made 92FS, not because they're better, but simply because that is the country which created the original design. However, I can't stand "lawyer stamps" on my guns (i.e. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE OPERATING, etc.), which both the American-made and Italian-made 92s have, so I went with the M9.

Why buy a Ferrari made in Maryland?

But honestly, the Italians I've seen just seem a little nicer.  The PSF proof stamps on barrel and frame, barrels seem to have cleaner internals etc.  The US barrels I see have tool marks on the barrel where the Italians are so smooth it's not even funny.

I have an Italian model 92fs. I have nothing but good things to say about it. The first thing I did to it after I bought it was change out all the internal springs with new springs and installed a "D" spring in the back as well as replaced the roll pin that holds in the mainspring with a straight pin. The only "problem" that I have is that is a tad too big to use for CCW in my case. But overall it is a great gun.

Very true IMO.

In 1989 I bought my first 92. It was a NIB Italian 92F.

It's been more accurate than my US Berettas and the finish is a deep blue. Just beautiful.
