contact the folks at wwww.raftersgunleather. They make good leather belts and at a really good price. I have several of their belts and wear em with jeans and business suits. You can go plain leather or get into shark, ostrich and elephant. They also make great holster and mag pouches as well. RJW

I have a couple Aker B21 gunbelts that I got from Galls. I really like them and they are quite stiff. IIRC, they have a strip of polymer between 2 layers of leather. They are also very reasonably priced.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this.....but I just bought two of these belts at Meijer's for $9.99 each. I plan on using leather dye to make one black. The belts are heavy duty, don't bend or collapse under weight (made for holding tool belts), and fit through jean loops.
A cheaper alternative to $50 belts.....for some that are price concious. YMMV, I am not a uber-tactical undercover guy, but it holds my heavy-ass Ruger IWB fine. CLC® Leather Work Belt (E4501)  Packaging was a bit different than what is shown in pic, but model number is same. No Expert |

Wilderness belts are great, but they look out of place in some social situations. I use Don Hume belts when a wilderness would not be appropriate.

Though you won't be able to clip onto a rope from a passing helicopter like you can with a wilderness.

Wow, thanks to everybody for the (very quick) responses. It's gonna take me a while just to sort through the choices! Of course, now it sounds like I'm gonna hafta buy a few different belts. I can't figure out if this is a good thing or a bad thing!

Looper Leather in OKC has leather wraped Kydex designed for plain clothes carry. They look great, and wear well. I've been wearing mine every day for a year, and it still looks great.

+1 on Wilderness, but you may want to look at the Frequent Flyer by them as well. Mine works well, though next order I'll be getting the 5 stitch instead of the standard 3 stitch....
Either looks good wih jeans, which is what you are looking for. The Original Instructor Belt is also recommended by the folks at Gunsite, if that carries any weight with you.... As to leather belts, I'm going to explore a few options listed above! T Bone (Detroit). |

I love the Wilderness 1.5" 5-stitch belt. I have two of them in fact. But one thing about it that I don't care for is how it is so stiff that it fails to conform to the belt loops in a holster very well. You know, the loops make the belt need to form in an "S" shape, but the belt resists that because it's so stiff. So the result is your holster sticking farther out from your hip than it needs to, mainly cause of the thickness and stiffness of the belt. So for plainclothes OWB carry, a more supple leather belt might be in order.

Their double belts would support a holster well and don't scream "I'm a cop" or "I'm carrying a gun" the way wome other suggestions would. They go with more clothes than a Wilderness belt, too. Expensive, but worth it - mine is over 10 years old and still going strong. |

I have four belts from RafterS gunleather which are hard to beat for the price and are very popular. I have one gun belt from Milt Sparks and it kicks the asses of every other belt I've even seen although they're not cheap and there's a waiting list.
I'm now waiting for a holster from Bulman Leather. For a real work or art, try there. |

Went to the local knife store, and they had Liger belts, so ended up buying one. So far, I like it. It's stiff enough, comfy, and looks nice, but still casual.
I'm probably going to get some others to try out at some point. This wasn't the one I had planned to buy, but .... thanks for everybodys input. dp |

I received my Looper leather belt today. I'm not impressed with the construction or materials. The buckle feels cheap and the method of securing it to the belt seems flimsy.
I'm also not impressed with Looper leathers shipping policy of charging me $4 and the shipment costing $1.60. I wouldn't recommend Looper Leather.

Materials....compared to what? Top grain hide and Kydex. I've had them all, and Looper's last better. I have no idea about the shipping though. |

Have you guys uysed the Uncle Mike's belts with the polymer instert/sandwich or others like it? I see the Liger belts (and others) that are displayed in tightly coiled pictures and I wonder if they'll really hold a gun, mags and Surefire 6p (not to mention my pants!). Is it ok that some of these belts are so flexible along their length? Just trying to sort it out because I have a few "jeans" belts that are more stiff that the ones in these pics, and wonder if I need to shell out for a gun belt. Thanks in advance!

Try Gunners Alley Belts. They're reasonably priced and are on par with those of Milt Sparks and Don Hume....

It arrived the first of this week. I've worn it all day long a couple of days already and I am convinced the quality and wormanship was worth the time and the $$$ (not much more than some name-brand "designer" dress belts). I will be ordering a couple more (diff. colors) from him next week.
