I bought a Hi Power last week. It is an Austrian Police Trade in, Aluminum framed gun. Mine has the early style sights but the double banana safety. Gun was carried quite a bit but not shot very much by the look of it. I'm going to send it to Don Williams for some work-Street Package, Hard Chrome, Matted slide etc..... Just wondering if anyone else bought one- fairly rare gun and the price was reasonable at $400.

They had a shitload of them but now apparently are getting to the end. When I bought mine they had at least 6-7 listed, now just one or two. I got mine for $399 and $35 shipping- which they fucked me on. Supposedly it was going out UPS- they sent it US mail in a flat rate box. I got the damn gun two weeks later......Oh well, it was quite nice and you just don't see them. Great base gun for a one of a kind custom.

The only other ones I ever have heard of coming in were brought in by AIM several years ago and they were a small lot that didn't last very long. As I understand it, Cylinder and Slide and Novak bought most of them and are slowly releasing them as customs. Buddy of mine bought one at SHOT this year from C&S, very nice.....

I bought one a couple of weeks ago, but haven't gone to pick it up from my FFL yet.  This will be my 2nd alloy Hi-Power; the first one has been mated to a ciener .22 conversion and makes an excellent intro pistol.

The weight difference makes wanting a plastic gun a thing of the past, these things ring in at about the same weight as a Glock 19/23.  But they are still very rare by USA standards.  There can only be a couple hundred of these in the States, and Wikipedia stated the MK-I alloys are the rarest of the lot and these MK-II's can't be far behind.  There are so few of these that they are not even listed the gun blue book.  Buy one if you can as they are like an un-cut diamond at this point.  Most BHP lovers don't even know about them.  And those who do and try to placate them have never put one in their hands to feel the true difference.

All I do know is that the Novaks and C&S alloy custom pistols sell for truly big bucks, from $2000 to almost $3000.

eta:  The slides have pretty much all been sprayed painted, underneath that finish they were parkerized.  Collectors likely won't want them due to the arsenal refinish job.

But these are fricken great carry guns once you go through them.

I have an Austrian police contract BHP. It came with the BHP cardboard box, and ser # 13 rd mag. This is a late 1940's or early 1950's contract (1st or 2nd Police contract?? with 4 digit ser #)  Got it at my local fun shop back in 1999 for $350.00. Love this pistol.
