I haven't recieved mine yet, but after viewing pictures of the two, they appear to hold the floorplate on differently.

Has anyone tried to modify a 10 rounder to hold 12?

The only way to make them hold more is to cut the top off of one mag and have the bottom part welded to the bottom of another mag.  A 170mm STI spring will then give you 17 rounds of .45 in what was two 10 round mags.  Other than that there is nothing that can be done.  The Five USP .45 mags, one SOCOM, and one USPC .40 mag that I have done this to work 100% (140mm STI spring for the Compact .40).  All hold 17 rounds.

WOW

How far does that mag stick out the bottom of the grip?

I was able to modify the follower on a 10 round USP .45 mag to fit 11 rounds.  Feeding was problematic to say the least.

That is impressive Big-Bore.

17 rounds of .45 would put a hurtin on something

No different than buying a Glock 9mm and having a 33 rounder stick out the bottom. Isn't practical, but prolly good for some laughs at the range or in the local pit.

I could not agree more.  These mags sticking out the bottom of the pistol like they do are about as worthless as tits on a bore hog.  Good for kicks and giggles but little else.  Their only real use is for snubbing your nose at the antis and for de-neutering neutered mags.

Think there is any hope of.. dare I say the word in relation to an HK product.... "cheaper" factory 12 rounders?

Can't see spending 30$ extra per mag for 2 extra shots when 10 is still 3 more than a 1911.

You forgot 8 rounders

i asked the same question and have yet to find them any cheaper.  There are mag extensions available for the 10 rounders to bring them out to 12 rounds,  but I don't like the idea of adding an inch of plastic to the bottom of the mag.  I guess you could call me a pessimist when it comes to doodads like that.

Must be a patent thing? I wonder why Mec-Gar hasn't made them??? I too am tired of getting hammered for 12rd .45acp mags!

A) I use 8rd mags in my 1911.

B) Rare is the 1911 that is as accurate as a H&K.
