I've got a line on a couple of Springfield V10 stainless compact pistols at a local shop. They are used pistols, one looks to be in better condition than the other.

Any opinions on these as a CCW piece? The one thing I didn't like about them was that the grips were pretty beefy looking. They felt good, but they seemed a bit thick for CCW.

One question I have is how distracting the blast from the ports is likely to be?

Reliability issues?

For a carry gun it wouldn't be too good. Main reason is if you have to deploy it close to your body you'll end up getting alot of crap in your face. Also you'll have one hell of a signature in low light situations.

There's been several owners in here who've had SA S/S models break their slide. I'd avoid them, IMO.

IMO, the porting for a carry piece is a non-issue. You can experiment & see which ammo shoots best in low light. If you're doing a shot holding close in, simply cant the gun with the ports away from you. My S&W 460 in .38spl is ported.
