I have a really nice Springfield 1911 Target model PI9132LP that I bought like new a year ago.  I want to carry a 1911 as a CCW from time to time but don't want to trade this one for another one and can't really justify having two.  Although I would prefer to have Novaks on it, with the way the rear site is cut, there really isn't an option that I like.

Just wondering if any of you would feel comfortable carrying a pistol like this anyway.

I have carried a Colt Special Combat Government some but the BoMar rear sticks in my side too much.
I have a similar M1991A1 ORM on which I replaced the BoMar with a fixed sight and I carry that every now and then.

It is not ideal, but with care you can do it.  I have been known to CCW my Gold Cup every once in a while.

I much prefer some thing more durable however.

Yes.

No trouble at all with a MILT SPARKS SUMMER SPECIAL II

From time to time, I do.  I think entirely too much is made of having a "tactical" rear sight, at least as far as civilian CCW is concerned.

This is the gun in question that I would like to carry.

This is the thrid slide for this gun.  Started life as a AMT Hardballer Longslide and then put a blued Colt Series 70 slide with Smith K frame adj sights on it (87' timeframe, longslide went on a DA ODI Viking frame), then added this Michigian Armament Slide with Millet adj sights.  Slide is also MetalLifed and MagnaPort, slide, barrel and bushing (88' timeframe).  This is my daily carry gun for the last 22 yrs.  Never had the sights knock off carrying either open or concealed.  Fourth slide is my Colt .22LR conversion but that's not a CCW (unless I'm hunting with it and only have it)  Just bought a new Double Star frame for the slide but didn't have time to fit the slide when home on leave last month.

I have in the past. Did okay except for when carrying IWB. Scratched my side pretty good and ruined a few T-shirts.

I carried a Delta Elite w/Bomars for a while. The holster makes ALL the difference.

Here is another option. I would just run good holster though and forget about it.

Hope it helps

Yup.

Carrying a 1911 with a low mounted Bomar style adjustable sight is no more hard than carrying a 1911 with Heinie fixed sights, other than some could use some judicious de-horning of the edges to keep it from ripping cover garments.

This took care of any problem for me.

My Springfield V12 ported at times just to vary the carry a bit.

I carry my TRP full rail in an RCS holster and the edges of the sight stick out.  Not too big a deal unless you move around a lot.  I just tuck in an undershirt behind the holster.
